There was a grandmother who originally ran this pub when it was new. She planted a cute tree that has now grown and grown…. Now it is pushing over the pub and has become incorporated into it. –DOUG ROGERS, DESIGNER
Rogers says there’s a shrine to the grandmother in the Duckling that no one will ever see.
I’d love to have this concept art by Kevin Nelson framed on my wall. Must be Flynn. No idea what he’s up to. No good, surely…
This deserves its own post. It’s Kevin Nelson concept art for the village lantern-lighting sequence in “Waiting for the Lights,” but the scene in the film is so dark you can’t see anything. Here you can see every detail of one quarter of the village, including the High Street and Fountain Square.
Sketches from Doug Rogers (middle left) and Kevin Nelson (everything else).
I’m fascinated by the idea that, at one point, Rapunzel and Flynn were going to take a gondola ride through a canal in the village. But maybe that’s just because I want to see more of Corona.
Kevin Nelson’s vision for the tower. I love how the tower was hidden in the valley and the back story for it in the final film. But this looks pretty awesome.
Some brilliant concept art of the Corona wilderness by Kevin Nelson, with a concept image of the campsite by Doug Rogers (bottom right).
Apparently, at one point, Flynn’s flight from Corona happened at night. Concept art from Kevin Nelson, including one of Flynn meting with Gothel – another altered plot point.
Forest concept art from Kevin Nelson (bottom) and Lauren Airriess (top).
Kevin Nelson concept art of Flynn’s escape.
