Mont St. Michel in Normandy, France, inspired our castle in “Tangled.” It sits out in the bay surrounded by water and feels so very fairy tale-like. When I visited it I knew this has to be the kingdom that Rapunzel will someday be Queen of. -GLEN KEANE

I know this concept art has nothing to do with what happened in the final film, but it captures the feel of “Tangled” so beautifully.
Ever since I heard that the “Tangled” short next spring will be the wedding, I’ve wanted to post this picture. It’s from a larger map in “The Art of Tangled” that you can see here. I always found it curious that the creator of this map labeled “cathedral” - as though something was going to happen there. It makes me wonder if, at one stage of the movie, there was a plan to show the marriage, and if, perhaps, all the attention to the Will and Kate wedding made them think, “Hey, we could do that as a short after all.”
