This is the lake near Immenstadt, about 30 miles east of Lindau, Germany. It gives a sense of the landscape and flora of the Allgäu Mountains, which run along the border of Germany and Austria. The sub-alpine pine forests are quite different from the forests in the highlands of Corona.

This is the Diebsturm (Robber’s Tower) in Lindau, Germany, which seems to be drawn straight from the pages of the Brothers Grimm. An excellent place to keep ruffians and thugs, apparently.

Lead animator Glen Keane and others have said that Mont St. Michel was the inspiration for the island setting of the Corona castle and village. It’s location in Normandy, France, however, is at odds with many other parts of the movie, meaning it is not a good candidate for the setting of a real-world Kingdom of Corona.
